The preschool years are the foundational years in a child's life. We are committed to providing an environment which promotes healthy growth and development. The Preschool ministry, led by Meaghan Weir, wants every child to know and understand that:

  • God created me.
  • The Bible is a true book that tells about God and Jesus.
  • Jesus loves me and wants to be my friend forever.

SUNDAYS, 9:30 and 11 a.m. -- While parents are attending a 9:30 small group or the 11:00 Worship Gathering, young children can experience Bible learning through developmentally appropriate activities. Teachers provide learning opportunities for preschoolers through hands on activities and Bible story group time. Each class is designed to reinforce Bible learning in a loving and caring environment. The safety and security of preschoolers is a priority at Southside. Receive security information and register at the information desk in the preschool area.

The Children's Ministry, led by Todd Kornahrens, partners with parents in the discipleship of their kids, helping them to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. While at SSBC, your kids will study God’s Word and learn the following concepts on their age-appropriate level: God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, Creation, Family, Self, the Church, the Community & World, and Salvation.

Children's Ministry Essentials:

  • Heart Transforming, not behavior modifying
  • Kingdom Expanding, not ministry building
  • Culture Shaping, not culture shaped

SUNDAYS - 9:30 a.m.

Small Groups

Children's small groups begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Children are in groups according to their grade in school. During their small group time, kids will study a story from the Bible, participate in some activities relating to the lesson, crafts, and fellowship with other children in their group.

Large Group

At 10:20 a.m., all children (Kindergarten – 5th Grade) and their leaders will transition to large group. During this time, the children will watch a video that reviews their Bible lesson, play silly games, worship, and spend time in prayer.

Curriculum – Gospel Project for Kids

The Gospel Project for Kids immerses children in the gospel through every story, theological concept, and call to mission from Genesis to Revelation. Ultimately, the gospel message changes everything; heart transformation can only take place when a child experiences the gospel. Through The Gospel Project for Kids, children will understand the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story—God’s story of redemption.

SUNDAYS 9:30 a.m.

Students meet in the Student Center and are broken into individual classes based on age and gender, and our adult leaders share lessons which not only grow our students closer together, but also closer to God as they learn more about Him and His will for their lives.
