HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE

UPDATED SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2017

Here are the latest updates of our church's plans and precautions as Hurricane Irma continues to move towards Florida. Please continue to LOVE your neighbors WELL during these days of uncertainty and preparation. We also want to be in prayer for those in the Caribbean and South Florida who are facing the storm at this time.

Sunday, September 17

We want to continue our mission of leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Sunday, September 17 we will resume our normal schedule with small groups meeting at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. We are asking everyone to "dress down" on Sunday as we will be inviting our friends from the Red Cross shelter to join us for worship. Many of them only have the clothes on their backs, and we don't want them to feel out of place if they should choose to join us for worship. We will also resume Wednesday activities on September 20. There may be some room changes to accommodate for our friends from the Red Cross and Christian Aid Ministries. Please be patient as we seek to Love San Marco Well by hosting these organizations.

Stay tuned to social media for any updates.

RESCHEDULED EVENTS
  • Discovering Southside has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 24, at 9:30 a.m.
  • The Deacons Quarterly Meeting has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 24, following worship.

CHURCH OFFICE
The church office is closed. The building has power but no phones or internet for the next several days. If you need to contact the church, please call 904.704.0970.

GIVING

We know many of our members will be evacuating or "hunkering down". In order to limit the negative impact this could have on our ministry budget, please consider giving your offering online or by texting ssbcjax (no spaces) to 77977. Your giving allows us to continue to meet the needs of our congregation while generously supporting our mission and ministry partnerships throughout our community and around the world.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

At this time, the best thing for us to do is to take care of ourselves, our families, and our neighbors. Take every opportunity to love and serve our neighbors. We are committed to being part of the on-going recovery following Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Stay tuned for more information on how we can serve.

We are working to ensure that every member of our church is safe and to learn if there is any way we can assist with specific needs following the hurricane. If you have or know of the need, please contact Barbara Carroll at media@ssbc.org. You can also contact her if you are able and willing to meet any of the needs of which we become aware.
